The Law Firm of Sacharin, Kirkscey & Flexsenhar was started in 1973 by David Kirkscey and Jon Sacharin originally specializing in debt collection and landlord/tenant matters.
David Kirkscey and Jon Sacharin originally specialized in debt collection and landlord/tenant matters. The partners co-wrote two sections of the Tennessee Residential Landlord Tenant Act. Jon passed away in 1990 and Attorney Michael Flexsenhar, Jr. joined the firm, becoming partner in 2001 – expanding the firm into divorce, family law, juvenile court, and divorce mediation areas. David Kirkscey retired from active practice in 2016 and passed away in 2021.

Mike joined the firm of Sacharin & Kirkscey as an Associate in 1990
Mike joined the firm of Sacharin & Kirkscey as an Associate in 1990 and became a partner in 2001 serving clients in the areas of commercial volume collections as well as services in divorce, family law, juvenile court matters, custody, divorce and family law mediation. He also serves corporate clients in the area of retail volume collections. He has over thirty years of experience in the areas of family law and juvenile matters including matters heard in Juvenile Court such as child support and visitation matters, establishing parentage and other issues.
Mike is a 1983 graduate of the University of Memphis School of Law and an active member of the Tennessee Bar Association in good standing since 1983. He is a former Staff Attorney at the Juvenile Court of Memphis and Shelby County serving Judge Kenneth A. Turner and is a former Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
A lifelong resident of Shelby County, Dennis J. Sossaman is of counsel to the law firm of Sacharin, Kirkscey & Flexsenhar where he practices primarily in the area of family law.
Dennis has practiced law in Shelby County and surrounding county courts for 30 years. He received his B.A. degree in political science from Rhodes College (actually Southwestern at Memphis) and his J.D. degree from the University of Memphis (actually Memphis St.) School of Law, where he served as President of the Student Bar Assn. and was Who’s Who Among American Law Students.
Dennis J. Sossaman is a member of the Memphis Bar Association, where he is the past president of the Divorce and Family Law Section, a member of the Tennessee Bar Association where he was the past chair of the Divorce and Family Law Section. He is a Fellow in the Memphis Bar Foundation and a frequent lecturer in the Memphis area on family law issues, including ethics, child custody & visitation and prenuptial agreements.
He has been qualified as an expert on family law issues in federal and state courts and before a hearing panel of the Board of Professional Responsibilities.
